Learning disability and autism programme
Overview
Summary, notice description and lot information
NHS England has finalised the contracting process for the "Learning disability and autism programme" within the health services industry. This programme, designed to enhance clinical skills and resources for NHS-led provider collaboratives, addresses the needs of autistic individuals and those with learning disabilities. The contract has been directly awarded to Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust due to the specialised HOPES clinical model they possess, which is critical for this 3-year project.
The procurement process was conducted under a limited procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, with the contract having been signed on 31st March 2021. The programme will be implemented on a national scale across the United Kingdom. This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses operating within the healthcare sector, particularly those specialising in clinical services, training, and support for autism and learning disabilities.
Given the focus on a trauma-informed and collaborative approach, businesses that provide workforce training, secondment staff, and family support services would be well-suited to contribute. The unique nature of the HOPES model and its implementation across NHS provider collaboratives suggests that innovative healthcare solutions and collaboration with NHS organisations can play a pivotal role in ensuring the programme's success and scaling similar models nationally.
This is a direct award to Merseycare Foundation Trust to allow for the delivery of the HOPES model. This is a clinical model for patients with complex needs and is exclusive to Merseycare, who will share their model with NHS organisations and they are ready to deliver at scale. This is a 3 year project for Merseycare delivery and secondment costs for staff across provider collaboratives, and a specific trauma focussed approach to working with families (family trauma model).
This programme will address the lack of clinical skills and resource across NHS led provider collaboratives to work with autistic individuals and individuals with a learning disability who are segregated in NHS funded mental health inpatient provision.
