Summary, notice description and lot information
NHS Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland Integrated Care Board (ICB) intends to award contracts for Minor Injury Unit (MIU) services under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) Regulations 2023. The procurement process is in the award stage, with contracts set to be provided between 1st April 2025 and 31st March 2026. The service aims to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care for minor injuries, decreasing the strain on emergency and urgent care services.
Services are to be delivered in Melton Mowbray and Market Harborough, with an overall contract value of £275,814 (£117,882 for Melton Mowbray and £157,931 for Market Harborough). Representations by other providers must be made by 26th February 2025, and the process has been undertaken without prior publication of a call for competition, as allowed under the PSR. This tender provides significant growth opportunities, particularly for businesses with expertise in healthcare services aiming to expand their portfolio within the public sector.
Companies that demonstrate a strong track record in delivering high-quality, innovative, and cost-effective healthcare solutions, especially those adept at integrating services across primary, community, and secondary care pathways, would be well-suited for this tender. The focus on local delivery and employment enhances social value, making local SMEs with robust healthcare capabilities and a commitment to reducing health inequalities through accessible care prime candidates for competing and succeeding in this procurement process.
Minor Injury Services provide highly responsive, effective, and personalised services outside of hospital for the patient with urgent but non-life-threatening needs. These services deliver care as close to people's homes as possible, minimising disruption and inconvenience for the patient and their families and relieving pressure on emergency care services. The service is delivered from two locations: Melton Mowbray and Market Harborough. The ICB is intending to award two contracts to the existing providers following direct award process C, where the existing providers are satisfying the existing contracts and will likely satisfy the proposed new contracts, and the contracts are not changing considerably. The contracts are on a cost and volume basis with an approximate lifetime value of PS275,814 (PS117,882 for Melton Mowbray and PS157,931 for Market Harborough). The dates between which the services are intended to be provided are: 01/04/2025 to 31/03/2026.
