Summary, notice description and lot information
The procurement process undertaken by Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust aimed to enhance medical imaging services by securing additional MRI capacity with the Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Classified under the medical imaging services category, the contract, valued at £1,500 per day, was intended to run every weekend from 19th April 2025 to 30th June 2025. The procurement was executed under a limited procedure without prior publication of a call for competition due to its classification as an urgent award under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.
Despite initial plans, the procurement status for the additional MRI capacity was marked as cancelled, although associated awards have been recorded as active, with the contract officially signed on 11th June 2025. This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in medical imaging services, particularly those capable of providing efficient and timely support in healthcare settings. By collaborating with NHS trusts, suppliers can strengthen their portfolios and enhance their service offerings, addressing emergent needs within the healthcare sector.
The opportunity is most suitable for businesses with experience in high-demand healthcare environments, particularly those with the capability to quickly adapt to urgent service needs without extended lead times. Businesses that can align their operational strengths with rapid mobilisation and high-quality service delivery stand to benefit from partnerships and contracts such as this.
GWH have agreed to provide additional capacity starting from 19th April 2025 every Saturday and Sunday until 30th June 2025, 12 hours a day, at an agreed rate of PS1,500 per day. The aim is to accommodate 42 patients per weekend. To ensure there is some slippage, we have agreed to put a 3 month provision plus 1 month extension into the contract. This was awarded via Urgent Award.
