Summary, notice description and lot information
MERSEY CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST is set to award a contract titled "Community Based Social Interventions" under the industry category of health and social work services. This process is in the Award stage, having been formalised on 19 December 2024, with the contract commencing on 01 April 2025 and running until 31 March 2028, with an option to extend for an additional two years. The contract value is £477,000, and the location for delivery is Merseyside.
This procurement is confirmed under the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) through a direct award process, bypassing the usual Public Contracts Regulations 2015. The notification supports the continuation of services currently provided by Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton. This tender presents significant growth opportunities for businesses involved in community-based social care services, especially those specialising in functional severe mental illnesses (SMI) for older adults.
Companies able to ensure high-quality, consistent delivery of social interventions would be well-suited for this contract, given the emphasis on continuity of existing services. Businesses already operating in Merseyside, or those looking to expand into this region, can leverage this procurement to anchor their local presence and enhance their portfolio within the healthcare services sector.
MCFT intends to contract with Age Concern, The Frances Suite, 151 Dale Street, Liverpool, L2 2JH for the provision of the delivery of a one to one community based social intervention for older adults with a functional SMI. MCFT is currently in contract with Age Concern. For the new contract MCFT requires the service to be mobilised from 01 April 2025 for a period of 3 years with the option to extend for a further 2 years. It is intended to award the contract in accordance with the Provider Selection Regime Regulations under Direct Award Process C where there is an existing provider for the services and that existing provider is satisfying the original contract and will likely satisfy the proposed new contract, and the services are not changing considerably. The Senior Leadership Team of Mental Health Care Division have made the decision for the award of this contract. No conflicts of interest have been identified and this has been recorded inline with Trust policy.
