Cumberland Council has successfully completed the procurement process for the provision of hearing services, awarding the contract to BID SERVICES. This initiative, titled "Hearing Service," falls under the health and social work sector and is intended to benefit residents of the Cumberland region. The contract was signed on 1st September 2025 and is scheduled to run until 31st August 2026, with the possibility of a one-year extension depending on performance and funding availability.

Cumberland Council have commissioned a provider to deliver an advice and equipment service for people who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing or have dual sensory loss. The service comprises four main elements:
- Information, advice and guidance
- Care Act assessments
- Equipment
- Prevention and deaf awareness training.
It will be available to all adults (and young people aged 16-17 in transition from adult social care to children's services) who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing or have dual sensory loss and are resident in Cumberland. Referrals will come from the council, NHS, other public or third sector organisations, as well as from people themselves. The maximum budget for this contract for the duration of the agreement ( initial term of 12 months with a potential extension of one up to 12-month period) is PS170,150.
There is the potential for a contract extension of one 12-month period, depending on both the success in achieving the required outcomes and availability of further funding.
