Summary, notice description and lot information
The procurement process involves the NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board as the buying organisation, which has concluded the award stage for the "NHS South Yorkshire ICB GP Locally Commissioned Services Contract - The Medical Centre". This contract focuses on general-practitioner services under the health industry category, specifically operating within Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The provider selection process followed a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) without a prior call for competition, as prescribed by the Health Care Services Regulations 2023.
The contract was signed on 1st April 2025 and will run until 31st March 2026, with the awarding decision approved in July 2024 by the Sheffield Senior Management and Leadership Teams. This tender presents substantial opportunities for local healthcare service providers, especially those integrated within the existing GP Framework. Businesses adept in delivering enhanced locum services alongside general practitioner services can benefit from this partnership, given the nature of the contract to pay based on activity at local prices.
The provider's ability to collaborate and integrate with existing GP services is crucial, making this a significant opportunity for those already established in the healthcare sector in South Yorkshire. While it is restricted to suppliers that currently meet the framework criteria, expanding to hold such contracts can aid in nurturing long-term growth and stability for compliant businesses.
This contract Award has been made following direct award process A of the Provider Selection Regime.

These contracts are awarded to an existing group of providers. Although we would not restrict the number of providers who deliver these LCS services provided they meet the contract and specification criteria, the primary reason that these services can only be delivered by this group of providers (GP) is because they are required to hold a contract via the GP Framework and deliver the LCS alongside these services; the LCS is designed to enhance the GP Framework contract and not stand alone, therefore, interdependency between the two services is paramount.

The provider is paid on an activity basis based on local prices. The contract will be from 01/04/2025 to 31/03/2026
