Summary, notice description and lot information
The Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust has initiated a procurement process for the provision of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Counselling services aimed at children and young people. This project falls under the category of Health and social work services and is procured as part of its Provider Selection Regime (PSR), specifically utilising a direct award process without a call for competition under the Health Care Services Provider Selection Regime Regulations 2023. The contract, valued at £180,000, was awarded on 12 March 2025, with a term running from 01 April 2025 to 31 March 2026.
Located in Liverpool, Merseyside, this procurement's industry category highlights the ongoing commitment to improving mental health services for the youth within the region. This tender represents significant opportunities for businesses operating within the health and social services sector, particularly those with expertise in delivering CBT and counselling services. As contracted with Think Therapy, an SME, the process underscores the advantage existing providers have when maintaining quality and consistent delivery standards.
Businesses with a similar focus on mental health services for young people might find increasing openings to leverage such contracts to expand their operational footprint in the public sector. Firms seeking to collaborate with public authorities like the Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, known for its extensive network in the Merseyside region, will benefit from exploring similar future opportunities.
MCFT intends to contract with Think Therapy Oaktree House, 52 Briarfield Avenue, Widnes, WA8 8JZ. This service works closely with mid-Mersey CYPMHS teams to provide CBT and Counselling services to children and young people. MCFT is currently in contract with Think Therapy. For the new contract MCFT requires the service to be mobilised from 01 April 2025 for a period of 12 months. It is intended to award the contract in accordance with the Provider Selection Regime Regulations under Direct Award Process C where there is an existing provider for the services and that existing provider is satisfying the original contract and will likely satisfy the proposed new contract, and the services are not changing considerably. The Senior Leadership Team of Community Care Division have made the decision for the award of this contract. No conflicts of interest have been identified and this has been recorded inline with Trust policy.
