Summary, notice description and lot information
The Isle of Wight Council recently completed a public procurement process for "Ad Hoc Care Technology", categorised under Medical equipments, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products. The procurement was essential for supporting vulnerable adults in the community through compatible care technology units. This process, now in the award stage, culminated on 20 February 2025, with a standstill period closing on 03 March 2025.
The involved suppliers include Telealarm (UK) Ltd, Tunstall Healthcare (UK) Limited, and Anywhere Care Limited. The procurement method used was a limited negotiation without publication of a contract notice, due to technical reasons and the need for compatibility with existing systems. The anticipated contract value is approximately £557,000, reflecting the whole life cost of the units required to comply with the ongoing digital switch-over in the UK.
This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in care technology and related support services. It is well-suited for companies that can provide compatible, reliable, and innovative solutions for community care systems. The awarded suppliers, being a mix of SMEs and larger firms, highlight the diverse competitive landscape.
Businesses focusing on telecare, medical equipment, and digital health technologies can expand their portfolio and demonstrate their ability to meet stringent compatibility and support criteria. Engaging in such procurement processes allows organisations to build stronger client networks, secure long-term contracts, and contribute to critical community services.
Ad hoc care technology units have been ordered in small batches of approx. 25 units at a time, for use by vulnerable adults in the community. The units must meet compatibility of the current system platform in order to work. Without the technology equipment, we can't continue to bring in more clients. We are also at risk if there is an issue with an existing clients current lifeline. Without them we are unable to replace If there is a fault. We also have existing Renewals that are due with these providers and failing to renew these will risk the clients lifeline no longer working due to the connection being cut off.
