Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, has announced an intention to award a contract under the Provider Selection Regime (Wales) Regulations 2025 for medical imaging services. The procurement process, which bypasses prior publication of a call for competition, is classified under CPV code 85150000. The tender aims to provide additional CT and MRI services across various locations in North Wales, specifically at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Ysbyty Maelor Wrexham.
The procedure falls outside the EU directive's application scope and follows a limited procurement method. Interested parties must submit representations by 11:59 pm on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, marking the end of the standstill period. The contract, valued at £5,419,856 GBP, is intended to run until 31st March 2026.
This tender offers substantial business opportunities for firms specializing in medical imaging services, especially those capable of providing staffing and equipment for modular MRI scanners. Companies with a focus on healthcare innovation, strong collaborative frameworks, and the capacity to enhance service accessibility and reduce health inequalities are well-suited to compete. The evaluation criteria prominently include quality, value, and social responsibility, making it an attractive proposition for businesses prioritising these domains.
RADIOROLOGY MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS LIMITED, a large-scale supplier, has already been actively involved, highlighting the potential for significant growth in the medical services industry through this procurement.
BCUHB are seeking additional Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) on the Health Board sites in line with the local service needs, for both core and ad hoc additional capacity to support the delivery of a timely high-quality service to the patients of North Wales. The provider will provide a regular core service of CT and MRI scanning until 31st March 2026. This will consist of staffing for the BCU owned CT4 CT scanner in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and provision of staffed Modular MRI scanners in Ysbyty Maelor Wrexham and Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan. The staff will be provided to cover 12-hour days, 7 days per week excluding Christmas, Boxing and New Years Day.
