Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Board has recently concluded the procurement process for the "Cambrian Ear Wax Removal" service, categorised under the ENT or audiologist services industry (CPV 85121240). This service contract is planned to be active from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026 and is valued at £16,000. The procurement, completed under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, involved a direct award (Regulation 9, Direct Award C) to the existing provider, Sister Kate Limited.
The procurement took place in Telford, UK, and adhered to a limited procedure method, bypassing the necessity for prior publication of a call for competition, as the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 were deemed not applicable. For businesses specialising in audiologist services or healthcare service provision, particularly SMEs, this tender represents a concise opportunity for growth and collaboration with the NHS in the region. The contract awarded reflects stability and continuity in service provision, as Sister Kate Limited, an SME, was chosen due to satisfactory past performance.
Companies looking to engage in similar health services in the County of Shropshire should consider positioning themselves for future procurement rounds by maintaining high service standards and engaging with ongoing NHS commissioning reviews in audiology services.
This Intention to Award Notice is issued in accordance with the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The Procurement relates to the provision of the Cambrian Ear Wax Removal Service. NHS STW has commissioned Sister Kate since January 2023 to deliver Ear Wax Removal for Cambrian Medical Practice patients. NHS STW is happy with the performance of Sister Kate as the existing Provider. NHS STW is satisfied that the requirements for the provision of health care services are not changing considerably, i.e., they don't meet the considerable change threshold as set out in Regulation 6(10). The intention is to award a contract to Sister Kate Limited, the existing provider, via the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023, Regulation 9, Direct Award C. The review of Audiology Services, which covers Ear Wax Removal, has recently recommenced within the ICB and it is anticipated a re-commissioning exercise will take place over the next 12-months The contract period shall be for a period 12-months from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026. The estimated contract value is PS16,000.00.
