Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board recently awarded a contract to Boots UK Limited for the Community Pharmacy Outreach Service focusing on Medicines Delivery/Collection Services in Harbottle, Northumberland. This service aims to support patients associated with Harbottle GP Surgery following its closure. The contract, with a total value of GBP 7,800, commenced retrospectively on 1st April 2025, under urgent circumstances facilitating healthcare continuity.
The procurement process bypassed the usual call for competition due to the provider selection criteria established under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. The award was finalized on 12th September 2025, marking the contract's completion stage in the pharmacy services category. This procurement presents significant business growth opportunities especially tailored for large-scale organisations like Boots that can swiftly deploy pharmacy services in remote regions and enhance healthcare access.
Businesses specializing in pharmacy services and equipped to handle urgent community care demands while ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations may find such contracts particularly rewarding. The strategic location in Harbottle and the partnership with NHS Property Services also create a structured environment for healthcare providers to establish a regional presence, leveraging their infrastructure to support patient needs effectively. Regular monitoring and engagement with NHS representatives ensure streamlined operations and continuous improvement.
