Summary, notice description and lot information
In a recent contracting process, the NHS Frimley Integrated Care Board (ICB) awarded a modification to an existing contract under the Provider Selection Regime (2023), specifically for Mandatory Dental Services. This involved the rapid commissioning of additional Units of Dental Activity in the Rushmoor area, facilitated by Farnborough Dental Centre Ltd. The contract modification was necessary due to recent contract terminations and aligns with the NHS priorities to recover dental activity.
The procurement, classified under Dental-practice services, focused on services in the UKJ2 region. This process, completed without a prior call for competition due to its regulation-compliant nature, represents the contract's official modification, aligning with the Health Care Services regulations and reflects a contract value of £549,402, effective from 8th May 2024. This procurement process offers business growth opportunities for NHS dental service providers capable of delivering increased dental activity.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), especially those specialising in dental-practice services, are well-suited to compete in similar tenders as they can leverage existing contracts for service expansions due to regulatory and strategic modifications. This scenario highlights the importance of readiness to adapt to rapid operational demands within regulated frameworks, providing avenues to secure recurrent business under public health contracts.
Frimley ICB entered into a rapid commissioning process to secure additional Mandatory Dental Services activity. This process sought NHS dental providers to deliver increased activity in the form of additional, recurrent Units of Dental Activity (UDAs) as a variation to their existing contract for Mandatory Dental services, in one or more geographic priority areas. Priority areas were identified based on additional activity requirements. The priority area identified in Frimley ICB was Rushmoor. The contract to which modification has been applied in 5B1-1 Rushmoor is:- Farnborough Dental Centre Ltd - 5B1-1-007 - Additional UDAs per annum; 4445 These variations are recurrent and additional to the provider's existing General Dental Services contract, which is not time limited . A transparent, fair and proportionate process was carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners.
