Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS South Yorkshire ICB has awarded a GP Locally Commissioned Service Contract to Handsworth Medical Practice under the Health Care Services Provider Selection Regime Regulations 2023. The procurement process, identified by ID C107311, was a limited process without prior publication of a call for competition, and falls outside the scope of the Procurement Act 2023 Regulations. The process reached the Award stage on 1 April 2025, with the contract commencing on 1 April 2025 and lasting until 31 March 2026.
Located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, this contract focuses on services in the healthcare industry, specifically general practitioner services. The provider, Handsworth Medical Practice, was selected based on criteria highlighting no realistic alternative provider, ensuring quality service delivery. This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in the healthcare industry, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to expand their offerings in general practitioner services.
Although the selection process was limited to existing providers within the GP Framework, those capable of fulfilling such contracts can enhance their business profile and establish a foothold in delivering Locally Commissioned Services. Companies that provide complementary healthcare services or have the potential to fulfil activity-based service contracts will find this an invigorating prospect for business growth and diversification within the NHS framework.
This contract Award has been made following direct award process A of the Provider Selection Regime.

These contracts are awarded to an existing group of providers. Although we would not restrict the number of providers who deliver these LCS services provided they meet the contract and specification criteria, the primary reason that these services can only be delivered by this group of providers (GP) is because they are required to hold a contract via the GP Framework and deliver the LCS alongside these services; the LCS is designed to enhance the GP Framework contract and not stand alone, therefore, interdependency between the two services is paramount.

The provider is paid on an activity basis based on local prices. The contract will be from 01/04/2025 to 31/03/2026
