Summary, notice description and lot information
The NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) has awarded a contract for GP Locally Commissioned Services at Devonshire Green Medical Centre in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. This procurement, which relates to the industry category of general practitioner services, has been conducted under the Provider Selection Regime according to the Health Care Services Regulations 2023. A significant milestone in the procurement process, this contract award bypassed traditional procurement regulations, as permitted under specific legislation.
The contract, valued at a nominal £1 for bookkeeping purposes, was signed on 1 April 2025 and will run from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026, with the relevant decisions being finalised in July 2024. This process did not involve a competitive call for bids, with the contract being directly awarded to the existing provider due to the interdependency with an established GP framework. This tender provides opportunities for medical service providers familiar with the GP Framework and those capable of delivering integrated Local Commissioned Services alongside their standard framework obligations.
Businesses operating in or looking to expand into the healthcare services sector, particularly those with experience in general practitioner roles, can find potential growth opportunities by aligning with existing frameworks and enhancing their service offerings. The procurement method ensures that providers who meet the set criteria and deliver services within such interdependent frameworks can seamlessly integrate into this and similar contracts, potentially leading to further collaborations with the NHS South Yorkshire ICB.
This contract Award has been made following direct award process A of the Provider Selection Regime.

These contracts are awarded to an existing group of providers. Although we would not restrict the number of providers who deliver these LCS services provided they meet the contract and specification criteria, the primary reason that these services can only be delivered by this group of providers (GP) is because they are required to hold a contract via the GP Framework and deliver the LCS alongside these services; the LCS is designed to enhance the GP Framework contract and not stand alone, therefore, interdependency between the two services is paramount.

The provider is paid on an activity basis based on local prices. The contract will be from 01/04/2025 to 31/03/2026
